Evaluation
Smile For Me launched on Steam on May 31, 2019 as a complete point-and-click adventure game. The developer, LimboLane, has treated it as a finished product since launch, with post-launch activity consisting of bug fixes and a significant remaster rather than new story content.
The most notable post-launch update was the "Bloom Update" on December 22, 2022, which LimboLane described as "the definitive version of Smile For Me." This update brought upgraded graphics, remastered music, controller support, new easter eggs, and expanded DLC (an updated artbook and remastered soundtrack). It was released in preparation for the game's console launch on April 24, 2023 (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox), accompanied by 8 new language options. A follow-up quality-of-life patch arrived on July 14, 2023.
Since the Bloom Update and console launch, LimboLane's news posts on the Smile For Me page have shifted focus entirely to their next game, Great God Grove — a spiritual successor in the same nod-and-shake adventure series. Great God Grove was announced on April 3, 2024, given a release date on October 7, 2024, and launched on November 15, 2024. The studio has since announced another new title, FACE LOVE, in February 2025.
Both DLC items (the Official Soundtrack and Official Artbook) are released. No unreleased DLC is listed, no future content for Smile For Me has been announced, and the studio's attention has fully moved on to new projects. The Bloom Update, which the developer explicitly called the "definitive version," marks the point at which the game's content became complete.
