Evaluation

Space Rogue launched out of Early Access on September 15, 2016, after roughly a year and a half of development that included numerous major updates. In the lead-up to launch, the developer stated the game "has all features that we've planned for release" and promised at least one free content update post-launch, with intent to develop further "as long as we have resources." True to that promise, the game received a post-launch feature update (version 1.1 on September 30, 2016), followed by a December 2016 announcement of a planned User Generated Content / Workshop system. That Workshop feature shipped on July 27, 2017, accompanied by a permanent price cut — representing the final major content delivery. Since July 27, 2017, there have been no developer news posts, patch notes, announcements, or communications of any kind. The developer's news history shows 5 major content releases and 4 feature patches, all concentrated between mid-2016 and July 2017, with complete silence since. The only DLC — a soundtrack pack — was released before the game even launched (May 2015) and no additional DLC has been listed. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, and no active roadmap. The gap since the last developer communication (July 27, 2017) now spans nearly nine years, far beyond any reasonable continuation of the update pattern. The game launched and was developed as a finished product, and the Workshop update in July 2017 appears to mark the conclusion of its content lifecycle.
