Evaluation
The Skies launched into Early Access on April 16, 2016 and has never left that phase — it is still flagged as Early Access today. The game is also no longer purchasable, meaning new players cannot acquire it, though it has not been formally delisted (the Early Access flag takes precedence for phase classification).
Through 2020, the developer was actively updating the game. A major Open Beta relaunch happened in March 2020, followed by a significant PvP location update in May 2020, grenade and mines content in July 2020, and a large Clan Wars update in November 2020. This represented a fairly active development cadence during that year.
However, the last developer communication of any kind was on November 4, 2020. Since that date — now more than five years ago as of July 2026 — there have been no patch notes, announcements, development updates, or any other posts from the studio. The game's store description still references ambitious future plans (expanding the map to 200km², full story development), but there is no evidence the developer is still working toward those goals. The game also cannot be purchased, which further suggests it has been effectively abandoned, though it has not been formally removed from the storefront.
Given the complete absence of developer communication since November 4, 2020 and the game's unfinished Early Access state, it is highly uncertain whether development is ongoing.

In this innovative sandbox you create your own adventure in a player driven economy your actions will result in the development of both the world and your character.
The game story takes place in the early 21st century, when solar activity increased dramatically. Within two weeks civilization collapsed, wiping out power sources, government and infrastructure. Humanity descended into darkness.
In 2150-2170, dust began to settle on the surface of the planet and the sunrays reappeared after 150 years of darkness.
Is mankind strong enough to restore what they've destroyed over the last century? What is life going to be like now?
