The Way is a self-contained, story-driven adventure game that launched on Steam on May 20, 2016. Inspired by classic cinematic platformers like Another World and Flashback, it was released as a complete, finished product. Following launch, the developer shipped a series of patches through mid-2017 to address bugs, balance difficulty, and improve platform compatibility. The final update — version 1.07b on April 27, 2017 — was a hotfix for Mac and Linux users. There have been no developer communications of any kind since that date. The only DLC is a soundtrack released on August 2, 2016, and no additional content has ever been announced or listed as upcoming. The developer's post-launch activity consisted entirely of polish and bug fixes with no indication of planned expansions or additional story content. The game has been stable and complete since April 2017.

The Way tells a story about a member of space explorers team, who lost his beloved one and cannot accept her death. Finding ancient writings on eternal existence during one of his last expeditions makes him come back there in search of the meaning of life itself.
He will soon know that the planet has its own secrets and problems that he will need to face in order to get what he is looking for.
