Evaluation

In November 2023, Mane6 made a direct and unambiguous announcement about the future of Them's Fightin' Herds: after completing the Season 1 Pass, the studio would be ceasing active development on the game. No new content would be produced — including the long-awaited additional Story Mode chapters. The developer was explicit that only small patches to address game-breaking bugs would still be possible. The Season 1 Pass was completed on February 22, 2024, when Nidra and Baihe both launched alongside Version 6.0. This fulfilled every commitment in the pass (Texas, Stronghoof, Nidra, and Baihe). A final bug-fix patch (Version 6.0.0 Rev2) was released on April 2, 2024, which addressed crashes and balance issues introduced by the character launches. This patch also stated that the team would "continue to patch the game as needed," consistent with the November 2023 promise of ongoing bug-fix support only. All seven DLC items in the store are released, the Season 1 Pass is complete, and the developer has explicitly stated that no new content will be produced. The game's store description still references additional Story Mode chapters as being in development — this was written before the November 2023 announcement and has not been updated to reflect the changed plans, but the developer's direct statement supersedes the outdated store copy. The game launched as a full release in April 2020, shipped meaningful content updates through 2024, and the developer has clearly communicated that content development is now finished.
