Evaluation
VEIN has been in Steam Early Access since October 24, 2025, and remains firmly in active development under Ramjet Studios. The team has maintained a consistent major update cadence, shipping version 0.023 on March 6, 2026 and version 0.024 on May 29, 2026 — roughly one major release every 2-3 months. Between those, they published multiple hotfixes and weekly/bimonthly development posts.
The most recent developer communication, posted August 1, 2026, details substantial ongoing work toward version 0.025: expansion of a new map region called Westwood, a full vehicle art overhaul with animated interiors and dynamic wear, a structural physics system for player-built structures, a new character art pass, roughly 30 zombie variants, and improved server performance. This is a healthy, communicative studio actively building toward a 1.0 release.
No 1.0 launch date has been announced, the game is still versioned in the low 0.020s, and the developer has given no indication that content development is winding down.
Evidence
Bimonthly development update describes active work on 0.025: Westwood map expansion, full vehicle art replacement with animated interiors, structural physics for player builds, new character art integration, ~30 zombie variants, and multiplayer server performance improvements.
VEIN 0.024 released with the first major map expansion (Franklin County, 60+ new locations), foraging system, plantable trees, item containers, condition rebalancing, and many other systems.
