Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Winter Assault is no longer available for purchase on Steam. The game is an expansion to the original Dawn of War, released on August 7, 2007. It has been removed from the storefront and cannot currently be purchased. The last meaningful developer communication about this game's support came in January 2015, when Relic disclosed their team had shrunk to a single person handling the Dawn of War franchise. A positive step followed in May 2014, when Relic migrated all Dawn of War titles from the defunct GameSpy service to Steam-based matchmaking to preserve online functionality. In September 2015, Relic released a new multiplayer map ("Temple of Cyrene") as a free bonus for the Dawn of War community. By 2016–2017, Relic's focus had fully shifted to Dawn of War III. The game launched as a complete, self-contained expansion with no post-launch content cycle or announced future content. With the storefront listing now showing no purchase options, the game is delisted.

Winter Assault offers two choices: the Order Campaign and the Disorder Campaign. The Order Campaign puts you in control of the Eldar and the Imperial Guard in their epic struggle to protect the Imperium of Man.
