Yaengard

Yaengard launched on May 5, 2022 and received a strong burst of post-launch updates from Planeshift Interactive. In the months following release, the developer shipped several major content updates: Update 4 (May 25, 2022) added crossbows, seven new classes, and a character creator; Update 5 (June 10, 2022) introduced Nightmare difficulty, Challenge Modes, and Unspoken Modes; and Update 6 (May 13, 2023) overhauled the entire combat system with cooldowns, a new combat items category, rare champion bosses, and a progression archive. The Update 6 post is the most telling communication from the developer. Alongside the patch notes, the developer wrote: "Even though the first salvo of updates post-release is finished, we still always want to make MORE — endless ideas, dreams, and concepts we'd love to bring you. Sadly, we can't do everything we dream of as a small developer studio." This language clearly signals that the planned post-launch update cycle has concluded, even while expressing personal enthusiasm for the game. A "first salvo" being declared finished, combined with the acknowledgment that further content is constrained by the realities of a small team, reads as a soft conclusion to structured development. An earlier post from March 10, 2023 [NEWS-2] stated "development of Yaengard is NOT over!" and promised more to come — but that promise was followed by and effectively fulfilled by the Update 6 release on May 13, 2023, which then carried the concluding language. No developer communications of any kind have appeared after the May 22, 2023 hotfix [NEWS-3]. As of June 23, 2026 — over three years since the last post — there is no active update cadence, no announced future content, no unreleased DLC, and no roadmap still outstanding. The game launched as a complete experience and was enhanced through six major updates, the last of which the developer described as closing out their planned post-release work.
