Evaluation

4D Toys launched on June 2, 2017 and has received a sustained series of major content updates from the solo developer ever since. Seven named major updates have shipped: Version 1.2 (July 14, 2017), Version 1.4 (December 30, 2019), Version 1.5 (August 19, 2020), Version 1.6 (December 15, 2020), Version 1.7 (December 14, 2021), MegaUpdate 1.8 (March 13, 2023), and most recently Version 1.9 on March 4, 2025. The intervals between these major releases have ranged from roughly 6 to 18 months, with one longer gap of about 15 months between Version 1.7 (December 2021) and MegaUpdate 1.8 (March 2023). The store description explicitly states there are "over 100 beautiful interactive scenes to play with, with more to be added in updates," directly signaling ongoing content additions. As of today, October 8, 2026, the last major update was on March 4, 2025 — approximately 19 months ago. Given that the historical cadence has seen gaps as long as 15–18 months between major releases, this current gap is at or modestly beyond the established range for this solo developer, but no statement has been made that development is concluded. The developer has not announced any future specific content, but the store description's explicit promise of more updates and the long-running pattern of additions mean the game is still best understood as one that continues to grow.

About this game

Play in VR or with Mouse/Keyboard.

What if you received a box filled with mysterious toys from the fourth dimension?

• Playfully explore and marvel at beautiful shapes powered by a groundbreaking 4D+time physics system.

• Poke, throw, roll and watch as they disappear into a dimension you can't see.

• Get an intuitive feel for how four-dimensional objects behave:

• Become a child of the fourth dimension.

In this case the 4D is not time but a 4th dimension of space that works just like the first three dimensions we are familiar with. If you count time these toys are 5D.

It turns out that the rules of how objects bounce, slide and roll around can be generalized to any number of dimensions, and this unique toy lets you experience what that would look like.

Features:

• Over 100 beautiful interactive scenes to play with, with more to be added in updates.

• Groundbreaking 4D+Time Physics Engine that uses new mathematics created for this project (see SIGGRAPH 2020 technical paper).

• Bonus: 2D/3D "Flatland" Interactive Explanation teaches by analogy about a fourth spatial dimension.

• Both VR and regular screen (Mouse and keyboard) support.

• Export Mesh for 3D printing, etc..

Some things to do:
• Roll down 4D marbles down 4D terrain!

• Play with a non-intersecting 4D Klein Bottle!

• Manage to fit the hypercube into the hyperhole!

• Unbind Rings using the fourth dimension!

• Make levers that throw hypercubes into the fourth dimension!

• "Squeeze" out objects into the fourth dimension!

• Play in a 4D ball pit!

• See Tesseracts (i.e. 4D hypercubes) slide down slopes!

• Make 4D objects levitate using the Anti-Gravity feature.
• Use the 4D shapes as fancy, perfectly symmetric, fair dice that have 5, 8, 16, 24, or even 120 and 600 sides!

• Make a stack of 4D hypercubes and smash it!

• Set up an interesting path for a few 4D dominoes!

• etc...!
