Evaluation
The developer has explicitly stated in the store description that with the release of Age of Mythology: Retold in 2024, this edition "will not be updated further." This is a clear, direct statement that development on Age of Mythology: Extended Edition has concluded. The game's sole DLC — Tale of the Dragon — shipped on January 28, 2016, and all subsequent updates were patches and balance fixes rather than new paid content. The final substantive update (patch 2.8) arrived on June 29, 2020, after which developer activity on this title wound down as attention shifted to Age of Mythology: Retold. That successor game launched in September 2024, at which point the developer confirmed this Extended Edition would receive no further updates. The game is complete as a package and has been superseded by its successor.
Evidence
Developer states that patch 2.7 is 'currently the only planned update for the game,' signaling a wind-down of active development even before the final 2.8 patch.
Store description explicitly states: 'With the release of Age of Mythology: Retold in 2024, this edition is not the most current and will not be updated further.'
