Evaluation

Card City Nights 2 launched on September 1, 2017 and received a healthy stream of updates in the months and years following release. The developer shipped several patches with new content: online drafting and a new NPC were added on September 15, 2017; achievements and post-game rematches arrived on September 9, 2017; and the most significant content drop — 28 new cards, a new character, and a new draft battle — shipped on September 28, 2018 as patch 1.3.0. A follow-up balance patch arrived on October 1, 2018. The last developer communication of any kind was January 21, 2022, when patch 1.3.2 was released to switch online servers and rebalance a large number of cards. No further updates, announcements, or roadmap items have appeared since that date. The only DLC is the soundtrack, which released on September 21, 2017 and is fully shipped. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, and no stated plans for additional updates. The January 2022 patch appears to have been primarily a server migration and balance pass — a maintenance update rather than a signal of ongoing content work. Given the long silence since January 21, 2022 with no content planned or announced, the game is best understood as complete.
Evidence
Patch 1.3.0 shipped with 28 new cards, a new character, and a new draft battle — the most substantial post-launch content addition.

About this game

IT'S ALWAYS NIGHT IN SPACE

Journey through a mysterious flying city called Starship Frivolity where every inhabitant is obsessed with the latest space-craze, The Card Game! Battle them to win their trust - and their cards! - and progress through the dubious laboratories, haunted docks and lethal restaurants of this space station to find out its greatest mysteries.

The Card Game (or TCG for short, the only card game they play in space) is played by two players on a single board. Connect your cards to give them power, and when they're all fired up they deal damage, heal, shield, or mess with your opponents cards. Since they stay on the board after they've been activated, you can keep combos alive indefinitely by stringing new cards into the chain. Playing on the same board gives you opportunity to further mess with you opponents, blocking their moves or stealing their power!

With a renewed gameplay system, an all new adventure and online multiplayer, Card City Nights 2 improves on its predecessor in every way.

  • Adventure and Cards, together again!
  • Online multiplayer
  • 200 unique cards with characters from the Ludosity universe
  • Discover increasingly more unlikely locations
  • Still no IAP whatsoever
