Evaluation

CAT Interstellar launched on October 6, 2017 as a deliberately short, self-contained sci-fi story designed to be completed in a single sitting. The developer has continued to apply visual and technical improvements over the years — most notably a significant overhaul in August 2022 (Update 6.1.0) and another in September 2022 (Update 6.2.0) — but these were enhancements to existing content rather than new story chapters or paid expansions. The developer's energy has clearly shifted toward the sequel, CAT Interstellar: Episode II (a separate Steam listing), which was formally announced in April 2021. The October 2022 Halloween post was the last official communication from the developer for this game, mentioning work on Episode II and promoting a separate side project (The Backrooms). There have been no posts, patches, or announcements since October 30, 2022. The only DLC on record is the project files pack (released free on launch day in 2017), which is a creative-commons asset bundle rather than a content expansion. No unreleased DLC is listed. The developer has made no promises of additional story content for Episode I, and the store description itself simply cross-promotes Episode II as a separate product. With seven major content milestones across the game's lifetime, all of them now shipped, no outstanding commitments for Episode I, and no developer communication since October 30, 2022, the game is complete. Anyone looking to play the full experience can do so now — and those eager for more story in this universe should look to the separately sold Episode II.
Evidence
Last developer post for this game, cross-promoting a separate new title (The Backrooms) and referencing Episode II development. No new content or commitments announced for Episode I. This is the most recent official communication on record.
