Earth Space Colonies launched into full release on July 1, 2016, after five months in Early Access. In the months surrounding launch, the developer was active — shipping multiple major updates during Early Access (v0.90 adding all three story campaigns on June 20, 2016; v0.91 adding a combat survival mode on June 26, 2016), followed by post-launch feature patches (v1.1 on July 10, 2016; v1.2 adding Japanese language on September 11, 2016; v1.2.1 adding an overhead camera on September 23, 2016). The last recorded developer communication of any kind was on August 5, 2017, when v1.2.3 added Spanish language support. That is the final entry across 40 posts scanned. There has been no developer communication since August 5, 2017 — nearly nine years ago as of today. The store description contains a line suggesting "game updates and expansions based on trending space related news," but this appears to have been aspirational language from the game's early days rather than a live commitment, given the complete absence of any developer activity since mid-2017. With no unreleased DLC listed, no roadmap or announced future content, no developer posts in nearly nine years, and a clear trailing-off of update activity, the game is best understood as having reached the end of its content development around the time of its last update in August 2017.

Earth Space Colonies is a strategy-simulation game where you build space colonies around the Solar system. Your first destination is Mars. Establish a first self-sustaining colony and terraform a red wasteland into a green oasis. Balance your resources and expand the infrastructure. Build anything from high-tech factories, hotels, military bases to space elevators and terraformers. Colonize other worlds as well: defend a mining colony on a dwarf planet Ceres and explore the subsurface ocean on Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon. Survive intense combat on Saturn's moon Titan.
