Evaluation
GeoDepths launched on October 20, 2023. Shortly after release, the developer (a solo dev, Matt Littlemore) announced in November 2023 that despite originally not planning any post-launch content, community feedback inspired him to commit to exactly two content updates — nicknamed "Denser" and "Deeper." Both updates were delivered as promised: Update 1.1 (Denser) shipped on January 12, 2024, and Update 1.2 (Deeper) shipped on April 19, 2024, adding new depth levels, caves, resources, and a third ending. These two updates fulfilled the entire post-launch content plan the developer had outlined.
Following Update 1.2, the developer's attention shifted to a brand new game. On March 3, 2025, he announced his next title, Fossil Keeper, stating that "development is in full swing" and asking players to wishlist it. This is a strong indicator that GeoDepths development has concluded — the developer has moved on to a new project. There have been no announcements of any further GeoDepths content, no unreleased DLC on the store, and no roadmap or hints of additional updates. The last communication related to GeoDepths itself was a minor bug fix patch shortly after Update 1.2 in April 2024.
The two promised updates were shipped and the developer has publicly moved on. GeoDepths appears to be a complete, finished product as of the release of Update 1.2 on April 19, 2024.
