Evaluation
GHOSTWARE: Arena of the Dead launched at version 1.0 on June 10, 2024, after a period of Early Access development. The launch post described the game as having "finally reached completion," delivering a full three-episode campaign and an Arcade mode. After that launch, the developer continued shipping post-launch content: a Summer 2024 update on August 5, 2024 added new Arcade maps and alternate character skins, and a Halloween 2024 update on October 28, 2024 added another Arcade map, Halloween skins, and an expanded horror mini-game. These two updates, spaced roughly three months apart, established a seasonal cadence of periodic Arcade content additions.
The most recent developer communication of any kind was on March 16, 2025 — a bundle announcement pairing the game with another indie title, Peripeteia. No content update has shipped since October 28, 2024, and no developer post of any kind has appeared since March 16, 2025.
As of October 1, 2026, it has been approximately 23 months since the last content update and approximately 18 months since the last communication. Both intervals significantly exceed the roughly 3-month seasonal cadence the developer had established. The developer has not announced that support has ended, but also has not communicated anything to suggest ongoing work. The extended silence without explanation makes it unclear whether further seasonal updates are still planned or whether support has quietly wound down.
