Lovely Planet

Lovely Planet launched on July 31, 2014 as a complete, self-contained first-person shooter with 100 levels across five worlds. Its only DLC is the official soundtrack, which released on August 6, 2014 — no gameplay content was ever sold separately. The developer (quicktequila) has continued to maintain the game sporadically over the years — improving menus, adding controller options, porting to 64-bit macOS, and fixing bugs — but none of these updates added new levels, worlds, or gameplay content. In November 2022, the developer was candid about having "no specifics about what kind of updates we're going to see for Lovely Planet going forward," and used the occasion primarily to announce the engine port and suggest players try the spinoff Lovely Planet Remix instead. In August 2023, the developer mentioned being on a break from working on "a potential new Lovely Planet game," which signals that any follow-up would be a separate product rather than added content for this title. The most recent update, a hotfix on July 25, 2024 (timed to the game's 10th anniversary), was a pure performance fix with no new content. The game shipped as a finished product in 2014 and has never entered a post-launch content cycle. Maintenance patches have kept it playable, but the developer has not announced or implied any new content for this specific title. The game is complete as originally released.
