Evaluation
Metal Unit launched its full 1.0 version on January 27, 2021, graduating from Early Access. After launch, the developer continued to ship new content: a community-created DLC pack ("Community Armory 1") released on March 28, 2022, a new dungeon and boss ("Abandoned Mine" with the Dwelling Emperor) added via a free content update on July 1, 2022, and finally an Extreme Mode update on October 6, 2023 that added a new gameplay challenge tier, new craftable weapons, a new status effect, and additional achievements.
The sole released DLC is the Community Armory 1 pack from March 2022, and there are no unreleased DLC listings on the store. The developer has made no announcements of upcoming content after the October 6, 2023 update, and there have been no developer posts of any kind since that date. The post-launch update pattern — three notable content drops over roughly 2.5 years — shows a very irregular cadence with gaps ranging from 6 to 15 months. The last update was on October 6, 2023, and as of June 25, 2026, more than 32 months have passed with no communication. This far exceeds even the longest gap previously seen between updates, and no future content has been announced. The game appears to have concluded its post-launch content cycle with the Extreme Mode update.
Evidence
Extreme Mode update released, adding a new high-difficulty mode with unique weapon crafting, a new status effect, new achievements, and additional quality-of-life improvements. This is the most recent developer communication on record.
Free content update added the Abandoned Mine dungeon and its boss, the Dwelling Emperor.
