Rogue Legacy
Released Jun 2013
Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero. Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might be a dwarf with vertigo. But that's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be to succeed.

Evaluation
Rogue Legacy launched on June 27, 2013 and received post-launch content updates in its first year: Mac and Linux versions on October 16, 2013, and a free content patch (v1.2.0) on December 17, 2013 adding boss remixes, a new class, new traits, and new rooms. A fifth-anniversary update on July 24, 2018 added translations into 8 languages, new traits, new achievements, cloud saving, and various balance improvements — the last substantive content addition to the game. A minor maintenance update on September 3, 2022 updated the underlying framework for Linux/macOS and improved Steam Deck compatibility, but did not add new game content. Cellar Door Games has since moved on: Rogue Legacy 2 launched into Early Access on August 18, 2020 and reached its full 1.0 release on April 28, 2022. On December 5, 2025, the studio announced their next game, Neath, targeting a 2026 release. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced future content for Rogue Legacy, and the developer has made no communication suggesting further updates to the original game are planned.

About this game
Rogue Legacy is a genealogical rogue-"LITE" where anyone can be a hero.
Each time you die, your child will succeed you. Every child is unique. One child might be colorblind, another might have vertigo-- they could even be a dwarf.
That's OK, because no one is perfect, and you don't have to be perfect to win this game. But you do have to be pretty darn good because this game is HARD. Fortunately, every time you die all the gold you've collected can be used to upgrade you manor, giving your next child a step up in life and another chance at vanquishing evil.
But you shouldn't listen to me. You should check out the trailer. It explains the game better then I ever could.
If you really want to READ about this game though, then you should check out our bullet list below.
