Evaluation

Project Rebearth launched on January 30, 2026 as a massively multiplayer, persistent online world where players collaboratively rebuild civilization on a 1:1 replica of Earth. Since launch, the solo developer (Program Sam) has maintained a remarkably consistent update cadence, publishing a developer update roughly every 4–6 weeks without interruption. The updates have been substantive throughout: the one-month post (March 3, 2026) introduced production management and rotation improvements; the two-month post (April 5, 2026) added plantations, alliance upgrades, and story artifact groundwork; the three-month post (May 3, 2026) delivered the first story artifacts and previewed the imminent Blueprints feature; on May 9, 2026, Blueprints launched as a major update with Steam Workshop integration; the four-month post (June 6, 2026) added grid overlays, object flipping, and bulk storage editing; the five-month post (July 4, 2026) added building upgrades, alliance emblems, and notification improvements; and the most recent post on August 10, 2026 added performance improvements, new tree rendering modes, and confirmed that animations and new buildings are actively being worked on. The developer noted in the August 10 post that they are traveling through Australia for two months but are continuing development, and explicitly stated "there is more on its way" including new animations and buildings. No wind-down or completion signals have been issued at any point.
Evidence

A 1:1 replica of Earth

Project Rebearth takes place on a full-scale, 1:1 replica of our planet one thousand years into the future. You decide whether to start your settlement in the burning deserts, frozen polar regions, or wild temperate forests. Each real-world location has its own style, building materials, natural resources, and specialized production chains.

The world is your playground

Explore familiar and unfamiliar corners of the Earth. Get inspired by the creativity of other players, build freely in the sandbox mode of the game and export any location as a high-resolution map. Perfect for map-making or integrating into offline adventures like TTRPGs.

The world never sleeps

The world of Project Rebearth is persistent. The game is a relaxed, long-term game that is not meant to be rushed through in a weekend. Your farms keep growing potatoes, your woodcutters keep producing lumber, even while you’re offline. Play at your own pace, whenever it suits you.

The world that holds secrets

Send out expeditions to discover artifacts in the world. Little puzzle pieces that might hold the key to discovering how the world ended up the way it is now. What lead to the world being as empty as it is? Can you, together with other players, unravel the story of Project Rebearth?
