Puyo Puyo Champions launched on May 6, 2019 as a focused competitive puzzle game. After launch, it received two meaningful feature updates: a September 2019 update adding Lessons Mode and Challenge Mode, and a September 2020 update (v2.02) adding two new hidden characters (Rafisol and Paprisu), spectator mode, color blind settings, and other gameplay options. Since then, the only developer communication has been a minor bug fix on August 20, 2024, with no new characters, modes, or features announced. There is no DLC listed for the game, no roadmap, and no developer statements about future content. The one "major content" news post from March 2021 is actually a cross-promotional announcement for the separate game Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 — it contains no content for Puyo Puyo Champions itself. The game was designed and released as a compact, complete competitive experience, and all signs indicate that content development concluded with the September 2020 update.
