Evaluation
BlazBlue: Centralfiction launched on April 25, 2017 as the concluding chapter of the BlazBlue Azure Saga, and received its first and (until recently) only paid DLC — the playable character Jubei — on September 14, 2017. The game was then maintained with bug fixes and infrastructure updates, most notably a rollback netcode overhaul on March 8, 2022.
However, since the previous evaluation, significant new developer activity has emerged. On June 24, 2026, Arc System Works teased a brand-new playable character ahead of EVO 2026, and on June 28, 2026, they officially revealed Trinity Glassfille — a character from the BlazBlue story — as an upcoming addition to the roster. The announcement explicitly states that update timing and further details are still to come, meaning Trinity has not yet been released. This is a concrete, developer-confirmed commitment to deliver new content.
This marks a notable resumption of content development for a game that had been in pure maintenance mode since 2017. Trinity Glassfille's release is the outstanding unshipped content, and players waiting for a complete roster should hold off until that update arrives.
Evidence
