Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown launched on September 12, 2024 as a massively multiplayer online racing game built around a continuous seasonal content model. The developer KT Racing has shipped major updates on a regular cadence since launch:
- **Season 2** (December 2024): Added Ibiza island at 1:1 scale, new Solar Pass, new cars, and multiplayer improvements.
- **Season 3** (March 2025): Added Car Delivery Missions, Solo Mode, AI difficulty selection, and License Plate Customization.
- **Season 4** (July 2025): Launched the Casino, Stock Restriction Races, and active aero improvements.
- **Season 5** (October 29, 2025): Brought Poker, Taxi Missions, a car resale system, and an economy rework. Extended to five months for performance stabilization.
- **Season 6** (March 25, 2026): Delivered over 350 bug fixes, new Detective Missions game mode, physical clothing stores, and significant performance improvements.
- **Season 6 mid-season update** (May 6, 2026): Added 15 more Detective Missions, a new vehicle, and additional fixes.
As of June 25, 2026 — the most recent developer communication — Season 7 is confirmed to be targeting a release in the last week of August or first week of September 2026. It will introduce JDM-themed vehicles, a Nissan GT-R R34 Skyline V-Spec II as a Solar Pass reward, a significantly overhauled daily challenge and live event system, 8-player groups, camera improvements, and changes to the Online Store. Season 8, which will introduce a full Housing system (houses, garages, furniture customization), is also confirmed in development, with the developer noting that plans for Season 9 and beyond will be shared after Season 8 ships.
The developer acknowledged in the June 2026 letter that the studio is facing capacity challenges — the Official Racing Center (ORC) feature has been delayed to allow focus on the Housing system — but confirmed that development on Seasons 7 and 8 is continuing as planned.
The game's entire structure — Solar Passes, seasonal vehicles, weekly live events, rotating online store bundles, daily challenges, and Diamond currency — is designed for ongoing, indefinite content delivery with no defined endpoint.
