Evaluation

The Escapists launched on February 13, 2015 and received a run of paid DLC through late 2015, with all five DLC packs (Fhurst Peak, Alcatraz, Escape Team, Duct Tapes are Forever, and Santa's Sweatshop) shipping between launch and December 8, 2015. After the paid DLC wrapped up, the developer continued with free map updates: Banned Camp on September 30, 2016, and Jingle Cells on December 8, 2016 — the last piece of content released for the game. An October 2016 announcement introduced The Escapists 2 as "the future of The Escapists," signalling that the franchise was moving forward via a sequel rather than further updates to the original game. No content of any kind has been released for The Escapists since December 8, 2016. All DLC is released, no unreleased DLC exists on the store, and the developer has made no announcements of future content for this title. The recent news posts from 2026 and 2020 concern The Survivalists — a separate game set in The Escapists universe — and are not relevant to The Escapists' own content status. The game is a complete, finished product.
