Evaluation
X: Tension is a 2000-era expansion pack for X: Beyond the Frontier, originally released in 2000 (with the Steam version dated October 8, 2010). It is a self-contained product with no post-launch content cycle — it shipped as a finished expansion with no DLC, no roadmap, and no promises of additional content. The only developer activity on record since its Steam release is a pair of compatibility patches in November 2021 (on November 10 and November 17) that ensured the game would run on Windows 10 and 11. Egosoft explicitly framed this as preservation work to keep the classic title playable, not as a sign of new content development. The store description references the game's "Version 2.0 Update" as a historical feature, not a current update program. This is a legacy title that launched as a complete product and has received only maintenance support since.
Evidence
Egosoft released a small compatibility patch to ensure X-Tension runs on Windows 10 and 11, framed as preservation of a classic game with no mention of new content.
Store description presents the game as a complete expansion pack with all features (including the Version 2.0 upgrade) already included. No future content is mentioned.
