Evaluation
Zombie Defense launched on September 30, 2016 as a free-to-play tower defense/RTS hybrid. In the months following launch, the developer shipped several updates adding new heroes, features, and bug fixes — with the last content-bearing update (Update 11.8, adding the Lasercut hero) arriving on March 16, 2017. After that, the developer's news posts shifted entirely to promoting their other games (The Pirate: Plague of the Dead in October 2017, and Hex Commander: Fantasy Heroes in December 2017), with no new content announced for Zombie Defense itself.
The most recent post for this game — a security update to Unity (version 12.9.9) on October 14, 2025 — is purely a maintenance patch with no gameplay content. No DLC, roadmap, or future content has ever been announced. The store description presents the game as a complete, self-contained package with a fixed feature set (49 missions, 22 recruit types, 150 upgrades, etc.), and there are no unreleased DLC entries. The developer has never indicated plans for additional content.
The game launched as a finished product and received a handful of content updates in its first few months. Content development effectively concluded in early 2017, with only occasional maintenance patches since then. Someone waiting for all content would have had everything available by March 16, 2017.
Evidence
Update 11.8 added the Lasercut hero and minor bug fixes — the last content update for the game.
Developer announced another separate game (Hex Commander: Fantasy Heroes), further indicating development effort had shifted away from Zombie Defense.
