MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA launched on September 29, 2021 and received four major free content updates post-launch, each adding new playable characters, stages, stories, and systems: Dead Apostle Noel and Aoko Aozaki (January 13, 2022), Powered Ciel and Mario (April 14, 2022), Neco-Arc and Mash (August 19, 2022), and The Count of Monte Cristo and Ushiwakamaru (December 15, 2022). All 22 DLC items — primarily per-character round announcement voice packs — have been released, with the final pair shipping alongside the December 2022 update. After that, the developers continued issuing balance and bug-fix patches through at least May 7, 2024, but no new characters, stages, or story content have been added. On May 2, 2026, the developers announced a full sequel — MELTY BLOOD: TWI-LUMINA — explicitly describing it as the successor to TYPE LUMINA and thanking players for their "continued support for MELTY BLOOD: TYPE LUMINA." On August 1, 2026, another announcement teased further details about TWI-LUMINA at an upcoming event. These posts confirm the series has moved on to a new title; there is no announced future content for TYPE LUMINA itself. The game is content-complete as of the December 15, 2022 update.
