Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade is no longer available for purchase on Steam. The game originally released on August 7, 2007 as a standalone expansion to the original Dawn of War. It received some maintenance support over the years — notably a significant multiplayer infrastructure update in May 2014 to migrate away from the shuttered GameSpy service, a bug fix patch in January 2015, and a bonus multiplayer map added in September 2015. The last developer communications relevant to this title date to 2016–2017, and those were announcements about Dawn of War III rather than any content for Dark Crusade itself. With no purchase options currently available on Steam, the game is delisted from the storefront.

Deep under the central desert of Kronus, a vast honeycomb of skull-lined tunnels and funeral chambers house the awakening Necron menace. Eons ago, these were the boulevards and squares of a great necropolis built to house the bones of the races who had fallen to the Necrons, and ultimately were where the Necrons themselves retire to spend eternity. Over millions of years, sand and rock had covered it all until ill-fated excavations awoke the deathless.
